KRAUTROCK TOP#20 : NEKTAR, Journey to the center of the eye (1971)

A very shocking album for the ears of CAN / NEU -like krautrock fanatics, as NEKTAR is more or less a progressive rock band!
I don't know much about prog rock but NEKTAR obviously from their debut ave composed their albums as long suite more than short pop-rock tracks. This "Journey" is an often surprising album, full of weird and cosmic sounds, with plenty of gorgeous and sometimes poignant (like in the extraordinay "Burn out my eyes), everyone should try.
So, forget all the things you've been told about prog and download "Journey" here.
PS : I'm disappointed, you don't seem to be so many to be interested in this krautrock retrospective. Any problem with it?

seeing a krautrock list on totally fuzzy was what brought me to your site. i totally agree with your CAN/future days assessment;tago mago's alright but days is the one. also the popul vuh and agitation free i wasn't aware of. i also gave kanguru another chance as a result of your list. please do keep it up;it's greatly appreciated.

I'm very excited by your retrospective. I knew the more familiar artists (CAN, Neu, Amon Duul II, etc.) but Sand, DOM, and Gila were new to me. And I'm thrilled to learn more.

Please continue, I appreciate your efforts!

nice. i'm going to check out nektar. but weren't they dutch? :-)

"Nektar, weren't they dutch"? No I don't think so, but some of them were english - but they were based in germany. But you're right, it's probably not the band thazt sounds the more "german" here.
Thanks for all your coments.

Hello

It's not that I'm not interested, but I bought a lot of these right after reading Krautrocksampler, probably like every other bandwagon jumping johnny-come-lately in the world. The ones that you're turning up that I haven't heard of are interesting: Nektar & Gila.

Great site. Where the hell is all this music coming from, some alternate dimension? I thought I knew it all.

Pray carry on.

Graham
